Frequently asked questions
Plain-English answers
Everything you need to know about how Codebrain Forge works.
No. Digital model files are not sold or distributed through Codebrain Forge. You can download all covered models for free from MakerWorld. This site exists solely to manage commercial print licensing — the right to sell physical printed objects derived from those models.
No. Selling physical printed derivatives of covered models commercially requires an active commercial subscription from Codebrain Forge. Personal, non-commercial printing never requires a license. The distinction is commercial resale of the physical object — that is what the license governs.
Never. Not with a license, not without one. Redistributing, reselling, sharing, bundling, leaking, or otherwise transferring the digital model files to any third party is strictly prohibited under all circumstances. Purchasing a license here does not grant any rights to the files themselves.
No. The Fan Membership ($3.33/month) is a supporter tier only. It provides no commercial print resale rights. If you intend to sell printed derivatives commercially, you must subscribe to the Print License 100 or Print License 500 plan. The Fan plan is clearly labeled throughout the site to prevent any ambiguity on this point.
When your commercial subscription ends — whether you cancel, it lapses, or payment fails — your commercial print resale rights end at the same time. Prints sold while your license was active are not affected. Any new commercial sales after cancellation would be unlicensed.
Each commercial plan has a monthly print cap: 100 prints for Print License 100, and 500 prints for Print License 500. Each month, you log the number of printed items you sold through your account dashboard. This is a compliance declaration system — it is based on your honest reporting. Exceeding your cap requires upgrading to a higher-tier plan.
A single physical printed item sold commercially. If you sell a set of three matching pieces, that counts as three prints. The cap refers to the number of individual printed objects you sold, not the number of orders or customers.
The Print License 500 plan covers up to 500 prints per month. If your volume exceeds that, please contact us to discuss custom licensing arrangements.
Covered models are available for free download on MakerWorld. Codebrain Forge does not host or distribute the files. We exist only to manage the commercial print licensing rights.
